The content of nucleolus is continuous with the rest of the nucleoplasm as it is not a membrane bound structure. In the chromoplasts, fat soluble carotenoid pigments like carotene, xanthophylls and others are present. The axoneme usually has nine pairs of doublets of radially arranged peripheral microtubules, and a pair of centrally located microtubules. Such an arrangement of axonemal microtubules is referred to as the array.
Carotenes are fat-soluble and insoluble in water.
